Our client is a very dynamic, rapidly growing, internationally successful operating group of companies (SME) in various industries (chemicals, recycling, food, consumer goods) with production and processing sites in different countries all over the world.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

To ensure smooth and sustainable day to operations in the family of companies while keep on growing.
The nature of the activities and current state of the companies will also demand a strong emphasis on M&A and integration of these acquired companies.
You’re always on the lookout for improvement and ways to broaden perspective. Your focus is on delivering results and leading activities towards the finish with a “good is good enough” mentality. While the Founder is looking to grow the company and has his eyes on tomorrow, you bring balance to the equation by focusing on what is needed today, to ensure a solid organizational foundation.
You make sure things get done the way they should, by the right people at the right moment.
 
Your main responsibilities & activities
Coordinate strategic plan making, together with Founder and other leaders within the family;
  • Coordinate strategic plan making, together with Founder and other leaders within the family;
  • Turn the company visions and strategies into excellent execution: short-term plans and goals for the organization (year, quarter, month, week);
  • Help teams and team members take full accountability for their part;
  • Design and manage future-proof organizational structures;
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and business performance metrics (KPI's);
  • Ensuring greenfields and acquisitions are integrated seamlessly;
  • Keeping a close eye on the day-to-day operations, making sure all companies run smoothly;
  • Responsible for People/HR, Finance and Legal across all ventures
  • Identify, explore, and exploit synergies between participations
  • Drive annual budget/P&L and managing this process, including (monthly) reviews with board together with controller
  • Standardize work processes across the di erent participations;
  • Coordinating financial stakeholder relationships and financing raising activities (together with the Founder)
  • Challenging Founder in taking decisions on investments, where his time and energy is best spent and other business ideas and opportunities


Your Qualifications / Experiences
  • Background in Economy or Engineering (Chemical Engineer) with focus on Finance
  • 10y+ experience in an end-to-end responsibility (i.e. MD, COO, Chief of Staff) with focus on trading/manufacturing industry (chemicals, by-products, food, consumer goods)
  • Strong understanding in production and processing industry
  • Managerial and strong leadership experience
  • Having worked in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, cross-functional teams end environment
  • Experiences in production planning, strategical procurement/sourcing, research new and alternative suppliers and markets
  • The ability to close the best deals to fostering long term relationship with suppliers and clients that are commercially and legally fully compliant with company’s policy and strategy
Soft Skills
  • Strong business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset, P/L driven
  • Can build up strong relationship to customers and supplier, networker
  • Leadership personality, empowerment of people, teambuilder
  • Well-developed communications skills, oral, written and presentation
  • Multi-tasking, self-starter, hands-on mentality
  • Proficient in English, understanding of Dutch and German is an asset, any other European language welcome
  • Willingness to frequent travel internationally
